Kevin Kenjar

Kevin Nathaniel Kenjar is a linguistic and sociocultural anthropologist whose research focuses on nationalism, empire, language ideologies, linguistic landscapes, historical anthropology, and memory. He received his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in 2020 and has worked for nearly two decades on the former Yugoslavia, particularly Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher with REVENANT – Revivals of Empire: Nostalgia, Amnesia, Tribulation, where his multi-sited research examines collective memory and the material, linguistic and cultural legacies of the former Habsburg and Ottoman empires. His forthcoming book, The Street Corner That Started the 20th Century, traces several centuries of ideological and linguistic transformation at a single intersection in Sarajevo.
