Zeyno Pekünlü, born 1980, obtained her MA from the University of Barcelona, and her PhD from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. She is based in Istanbul, where she runs the Istanbul Biennial Production and Research Programme for artists and researchers. She is part of the editorial board of the e-journal Red Thread (red-thread.org) and a member of the Institute of Radical Imagination (IRI). Pekünlü’s work aims to question knowledge production and distribution and to decipher power as it operates across intimate and social spheres. She takes a special interest in the construction of gendered roles and the way such roles affect myths of citizenship and nation.
