Jusuf Hadžifejzović attended the School of Applied Arts in Sarajevo from 1971 to 1976, the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade from 1976 to 1980 and the graduate studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf with Professor Klaus Rinke from 1980 to 1982. He lives and works in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Antwerp, Belgium.
Hadžifejzović began his career as a painter, but since the 1970s, his main focus has been performance (his earliest public performance dates back to 1979 in Pula) and a special type of practice, based on an almost 'archaeological' investigation of storage spaces or depots. He collects stored items and deposits them again, rearranged, in the form of installations in the exhibition space. Hadžifejzović later developed a series of performances that deal with the collective trauma of separation and loss, staged in museums and galleries in Rome, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Pula, Podgorica, Seoul, Antwerp, Dubrovnik, Split, Prijepolje, Zagreb, Maribor, and now Ljubljana.
