Denisa Tomkova is a PhD Candidate, in the Film and Visual Culture department at the University of Aberdeen (UK), researching 'Participatory and Socially-Engaged Art in Central-Eastern Europe since 1960'. Her research interests include topics such as: contemporary art, participation, community, biopolitics, national identity, and post-communism. Since 2015, she has been a member of the international research project 'Comparing WE's. Cosmopolitanism. Emancipation. Postcoloniality' based at the University of Lisbon. She was a teaching assistant for Introduction to Visual Culture course, for the autumn semester 2016 and a guest lecturer for course Performance art class, both at the University of Aberdeen.
