Merve Elveren

Merve Elveren is a curator and researcher. With an emphasis on the social and cultural landscape of the 1980s and 1990s in Türkiye, her research-based curatorial practice examines critical discussions and new institutional formations around shifting political urgencies. Some of her projects include ‘PresentAbsent’ (co-curated with Meriç Öner, YUNT, 2025-2026), ‘Translated into Socialism’ (Salt, 2024 and MG+MSUM, 2025), ‘Eternal Flame-the Radiating Archive’ (Barınhan, 2023), ‘In Time / On Ground’ in 17th Istanbul Biennial (co-curated with Çağla Özbek in collaboration with Women’s Library and Information Centre Foundation, 2022), ‘Little did they know’, 39th EVA International-Ireland’s Biennial (2020-2021), ‘Continuity Error’ (Salt, 2018), and ‘How did we get here’ (Salt, 2015). She is the co-editor of Cengiz Çekil: 21.08.1945-10.11.2015 (Salt, 2020), co-editor of Day to Day (YAZ Publication Series, Sharjah Biennial 16, 2025), and co-editor of National Identity and Feminist Praxis: Perspectives from Kosovo and Turkey (National Gallery of Kosovo, 2025).
