UH Department of Fine Arts and Art History

Being part of the faculty of Cultural Studies (FB 2) the department of Fine Arts and Art History of the University of Hildesheim is located on the Domäne Marienburg, a former medieval moated castle along the river "Innerste", south-east of Hanover (Lower Saxony) at the outskirts of the Harz mountains. The institute developed a unique BA- and MA-Program that combines artistic practices, curatorial practices and the theory and history of art. The Domäne Marienburg provides studios as well as lecture halls and seminar rooms. A strong focus lies in the modern period from around 1800 to present days. We regularly invite artists to develop projects and seminars together with our students. Since 2009 the University collaborates with the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven.
